Battery Law

In connection with the distribution of batteries (i.e., sources of electrical energy from rechargeable primary cells or rechargeable secondary cells, which are obtained by direct conversion of chemical energy, cf. § 2 para. 2 BattG), or devices that are used with batteries, we are obligated as distributors pursuant to § 18 BatterieG, to inform about the relevant regulations and obligations: You are obliged to supply waste batteries separately from the unsorted municipal waste. This means that you must hand over old batteries at a local collection point or in the trade on the spot. Disposal over normal household waste is prohibited and is in breach of the battery laws. Batteries, even those which are in devices, you can return to us free of charge after use or send back in a stamped postage. Our obligation to take back is limited to those old batteries which we have managed or managed as new batteries in our assortment, as well as the quantity which end users usually dispose of. Batteries containing pollutants are clearly marked with the symbol of a crossed-out refuse bin. Furthermore, under the symbol of the crossed-out waste bin, the chemical name of the corresponding pollutants is located. Examples include: (Pb) lead, (Cd) cadmium, (Hg) mercury. You can also read this information again in the accompanying documents for the delivery of the goods or in the operating instructions of the respective manufacturer.
